Bouquet of Hugs

Hi and welcome back to another fabulous Fusion Challenge!  And this one is a big one - it's our 2nd Anniversary and to celebrate, each DT member has invited a fellow card-maker to create a card using the sketch or photo.  I chose to invite Sonja Kerkhoffs, whose work I have long admired and who frequently plays along with Fusion.

And here is the challenge:

For my card, I used both the photo and sketch and came up with a bright and cheerful card.

I started by stenciling the Zig Zag Dots stencil onto the top portion of the card base, using embossing paste colored with Squeezed Lemonade distress ink.  To show some separation from the rest of the card base, I adhered a sliver of black cardstock.  While that was drying, I colored some of the images from Blissful Blooms and arranged them into a wee bouquet.

I die-cut an oval and also the Hugs word, which I colored with Wink of Stella.

Then all that remained was to arrange everything on the card base and add a few sequins.

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Team and our fabulous guests and I hope you'll have time to join us.

Products used:

Stamps:  Blissful Blooms (MFT)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Squeezed Lemonade
Cardstock:  White, black, X-Press It
Dies:  Big Hugs (PTI), Blissful Blooms (MFT), Pierced Oval Stax (MFT)
Accessories:  Embossing Paste, Zig Zag Dots stencil (SSS), Wink of Stella, Copics, PPP sequins

Cheers
Karren

  3. The yellow dotty chevrons adds so much texture and depth and makes a beautiful backdrop to your sweet bouquet of flowers. The punch of black just make everything else pop off the white card. Fantastic design Karren. I am always in awe of your talent. xx

  9. First of all thanks again for asking me to guest design, Karren! I had so much fun with the anniversary challenge and so did you, I suppose. Your card looks fantastic. I don't only love those delicate flowers and the bold black sentiment but also those tiny lemon dots. They look so bright and colorful! I've never yet archived such a perfect result when coloring embossing paste myself.

  18. Beautiful! I love how the embossed zig zags and the thin black line give your card some definition between the top and bottom. The flowers are so sweet and that big "hug" die is adorable!
