Hi and welcome to another fun challenge at Fusion! Here is the new challenge:
I created a fusion this time, using the sketch and the rainbow and butterfly elements of the photo. This is my first attempt.
However, I thought the black was too harsh against the ink-blended panel, so back to the drawing board I went and came up with a softer version.
Same card, different scalloped border. This, believe it or not, is a piece of patterned paper from a Halloween paper pack. I think the grey stripes work better with the rest of the card.
For the rest of the card, I white embossed the butterfly onto a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock, then blended on some distress inks before flicking on some water. Once the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment.
Thanks for visiting! The rest of the DT have some gorgeous cards and I hope you'll join in too.
I'm linking this up to the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp as well as the I Wish I Could Fly challenge at Sweet Stampin'.

We were on the same wavelength....sort of....I love the dark color with the brights! Just pops! Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteButterflies galore, and I couldn't love them more!!!

I think they are both pretty fantastic! But I do love how the effect of the different papers for the scalloped border changes these just a bit.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute!!! Thank you for joining us at Sweet Stampin, good luck!!! Amy DT
ReplyDeletelove them both! But I do think the second one wins by a nose... it's still striking, but less harsh. Thank you for joining us at Sweet Stampin' this week. Sammy-x

Absolutely gorgeous, Karren! I love the ink blending in your background and I agree that the striped border is softer and works best (but I still love the first card, too).
ReplyDeleteThey are both beautiful!! It makes the colors even richer. But the stripe does soften it all which fits with the pretty white butterfly. Truly lovely colors!
ReplyDeleteLove both of these but I can see what you mean and isnt it amazing such a small change makes such a difference in the softness and appeal. Beautifully done.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful inspired cards Karren - what a difference with the change of border - can't quite decide which I like best! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteI do love a rainbow, and that rainbow ink-blended background is just swoon worthy!
ReplyDeletegorgeous card mf...love how you blended the colours together so well...

I think both cards are gorgeous, yet the striped paper was the perfect choice with your design...Brilliant idea to switch it up, Karren! Beautiful ink blending too, and I love this elegant butterfly! As always, you've done an amazing job combining challenges!
ReplyDeleteSo stunning! I love those cheerful colors and I love how you softly blended them.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great take on the challenge. The background is beautifully done. Another perfect card from you.
