Blue Birthday

Hi and welcome to my blog.  I had some fun today creating, both for design team commitments and for fun.  Here is my "for fun" card, which uses the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, the birthday theme from ShowCASE Your Style and the masculine theme at Seize the Birthday.

I started out with a card base of Neenah Solar White 110lb (just got some and love it for card bases!).  I then took a panel of Whisper White and placed a stencil on top before sponging over it using several blue inks from SSS.  I tried to keep the center lighter and the edges darkest.  Once I was happy with my sponging, I cut the panel in two and adhered it to the card base.

The "Happy" was stamped using archival ink directly onto the stenciled panel and the birthday die is three layers stacked, which was then clear embossed a couple of times to create a raised and shiny finish.

All in all, quite a simple card suitable for a male.

Leafy Dreams

After five months of not working and having a wonderful time at home stamping (and cleaning and cooking!), I am returning to the workforce on Wednesday this week.  So I've got two more days to get some stamping in before working life takes over my week days once again :)

I made a quick CAS card using the New Beginnings One Layer theme at Less is More and the colors at ShowCASe your Style to come up with this card:

I masked off a section of a white card base and sponged on Green Apple and Audrey Blue inks.  After removing the masks, I stamped the leaf in Archival Jet Black and the sentiment from Dandelion Dreams.  I can imagine giving this card to someone just starting out on a new path in life.

Anonymous Collage

Today's card was made for a few challenges:  Tuesdays Morning Sketches, Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge theme of Thanks/Thanksgiving, and the color challenge at ShowCASE Your Style.

I dug through my stamps to find a really old Stampers Anonymous stamp and used Cold Laminate and Gold Leaf to create a beautiful background for the image.

The rest of the card is fairly self-explanatory.  I used SSS Fog cardstock to frame the central image and also as a layer on the right hand side.  The die-cut sentiment represents the banner in the sketch and the enamel dot the button.

Quirky Christmas

Today's card covers a few challenges.  I started out with the sketch from Just Add Ink and then decided to make a non-traditional Christmas card for Less is More.  From there it was a simple step to the bright colors at Curtain Call and then I decided to join in with the brand new challenge ShowCASe Your Style, which has a tic-tac-toe challenge.  Rather than going in a diagonal, vertical or horizontal line, I chose sparkle (Wink of Stella), sequins and die cuts.

My little penguin was colored with Copics and I gave him a purple hat and yellow scarf before die-cutting him and popping him up on foam tape.  The die-cut sentiment was cut from Elegant Eggplant card and inlaid into the white panel.  Some yellow sequins in the right hand corner balanced out the card.

These are not the colors I would normally choose for a Christmas card, but I think they turned out rather cute and quirky and would make a fun card to give a kid.
