Snowy Night

It's Merry Monday time and this week the fabulous Katie has challenged us to use polka dots and/or stripes on our cards.

For my card, I sort of used both - that's if you count the snowflakes as polka dots :)

My background was inspired by a card recently posted by Nichol Magouirk on the Simon Says Stamp blog.  Once I'd masked the moon and sponged the background in various colors of Distress Inks, I over-stamped the trees with Black Soot ink before sponging white ink through a snow stencil.

The deer were silver embossed across three layers separately then married back up again.  What is hard to see in the photo is that the "snow banks" are striped DSP.

Thanks for visiting.  Head on over to Merry Monday to check out what the rest of the design team have been up to.

Products used:

Stamps:  Winter Wonderland (Mama Elephant)
Ink:  Versamark, Black Soot, Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans, Seedless Preserves, Mustard Seed (Distress Inks), Unicorn White (Hero Arts)
Cardstock:  Basic Black,Whisper White, Neutrals DSP
Accessories:  Silver EP (Ranger), Falling Snow Stencil (SSS) Spellbinders A2 Curved Dies

Cheers
Karren

Where do I even start? The easy thing is that the snowflakes definitely count as polka dots, but they are just one part of this amazing card. Your sponged background is so realistic and the colors are gorgeous. And the silver embossed deer are a perfect silhouette in this scene!

Oh wow - what an absolutely gorgeous scene you've created. How clever you are with your techniques (I know I say this every card, but it's true!). I especially love the moonlight glow you've created.

I so like the way you sponged the sun. The overlapping of the yellow over the blue looks awesome!
