The Boss Turns 50

Welcome to Freshly Made Sketch Challenge Day!  This week our very talented European team member, Cindy Lovell is our hostess.  Check out the fabulous sketch she has come up with for us:

My boss (well, he was my boss up until a couple of weeks ago) turns 50 soon and he and I have a standing joke each year about who is the oldest, because he is only 3 weeks older than me.  I decided I couldn't let his 50th go by without a card to rub it in celebrate.

I went for a chalkboard look for the background, using a NBUS stamp from Hero Arts called Chalk Background.  Check out the cool effect of this stamp:

The DSP strips in the background are from the old Night & Day Specialty DSP which I hoard!  The polka dot piece is actually printed acetate which I've adhered to a piece of white cardstock so it stands out a bit more.

I cut the "50" from Hello Honey cardstock and adhered it using dimensional adhesive onto a circle stamped with the Dictionary stamp in Fog ink before being cut with a circle die.

Thanks for visiting.  Don't forget to check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the design team.  They'll amaze you, as always!

Product used:

Stamps:  Chalk Background (Hero Arts), Shenanigans (CAS-ual Fridays), Dictionary (SU)
Ink:  Unicorn White (Hero Arts), Versamark, Fog (SSS)
Cardstock:  Whisper White, Basic Black, Hello Honey, Night & Day DSP
Accessories:  White EP, By the Numbers Dies (PTI), Lil Inkers Stitched Mats Circles and Rectangles

Cheers
Karren

I adore that chalkboard background and the interlocking numbers! They pop in yellow! And I have just a wee bit of Night and Day left myself!

Hi again!
Thanks for coming to my blog. A question by the way: is it easier if I write my comments in german or in english?
Your card is really cool, I love the chalk-style!
Your (ex-)boss will like it!
Good night says Ellen

This is such a stunning 50th birthday card! I love the big yellow 5-0 and how you entwined and 'popped' them, and the "happy birthday' is such a perfect match for the numbers. Great choice of colors, too! Now, about you turning 50....
