Bokeh Rainbow

Welcome!  I'm here with a card for the latest Freshly Made Sketch challenge, where our hostess this week is Judy Rozema.  And I have to say, I really like the card I made (and I don't say that often!)

As soon as I saw Judy's sketch I thought I would do traditional colour blocking with cardstock or patterned paper, but ended up using masking and ink-blending and stencils to create my colour-blocked panels.  I used part of a PTI die to create the mask for the blocks and then I blended distress inks in a rainbow order.  Once that was finished and before removing the mask, I added the bokeh with stencils and white pigment ink.

I then removed the stencil and added a clean white cardstock die-cut.  The eucalyptus leaves were stacked three high and added with liquid glue and I finished with a white-embossed sentiment on black.

I liked the card so much I decided after almost three years to make a video showing how I created it (partly in case I forget down track!). If you want to watch it you can go  here or watch it below.

Lemon Wishes

Hi and welcome to another challenge at Fusion.  I played with both the photo and the sketch for my card.

I already had the lemons stamped and cut so just had to stamp a few flowers in colours to match my patterned paper (which by the way is Christmas paper, but I selectively cut it to avoid any snowflakes.)
I added a vellum circle die-cut with a stitched dot die for added interest and finished with an embossed sentiment and some Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Sandy Hello

Welcome to a new challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches, where our hostess this week is Amy O'Neill.

I took a few liberties with this week's sketch - most notably the angled panel not being angled at the top, but the horizon needs to be straight 😄My card uses masking, ink-blending, stamping, Copic colouring and embossing.  The sand was ink-blended after being masked off and then I stamped a splotchy stamp over it to mimic sand.  The sea was also masked off and stamped with a My Monthly Hero kit.  I added some white "foam" with a gel pen and stamped the sun from another kit.

I very lightly blended some ink for the sky.

To finish the card I stamped the chair and stamped and Copic-coloured the tree.  I added some shading under both before popping up on foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Awesome

Hi and welcome to the latest Freshly Made Sketch challenge where our hostess this week is Narelle Farrugia.

This card would have to go down as the fastest card I've ever made - 15 minutes from start to finish!

I didn't think I was going to be able to make a card for this week's challenge but last night, I snuck into my craft room for 15 minutes before heading out to a coffee meeting and saw a pack of patterned paper I'd just received from my mum, who is a CTMH consultant.  I decided to make patterned paper and dies the focus of my card and this is the result.

The "You Are So" is white embossed onto black and the card base has been embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.  I found a section of the patterned paper that had a darker panel at the top and used that to cut the sentiment die, which is backed onto black cardstock.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Ink:  Versamark
Cardstock:  Soft Stone (PTI), Black, You Are Enough patterned paper (CTMH)

Feathery Hello

Welcome to the latest Fusion Challenge - blue decor.  I created a fusion of photo and sketch this time to came up with this card.

I was trying to mimic the retro/geometric look of the photo and also the blue shades from the photo.  I took a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock and ran over it with the second lightest colour in the Tranquility ink set by Altenew, covering the panel completely.  I then set it aside to dry while I went searching for a suitable stencil.  This one looked perfect so I stenciled over the cardstock panel with the next shade up in the Tranquility ink set.  I then die-cut it with the hemstitch rectangle dies.

On the card base, I dry-embossed with the Subtle folder (again!) and then added the stenciled panel.  Originally I thought to put a deep red flower instead of the feathers, but it didn't look right as this was turning into a more masculine card, so I dug out this feather set and used that.  I added a bit of cool gray Copic marker onto the feather before embossing the tips in gold embossing powder,.

The sentiment is stacked three high and then double-embossed with clear embossing powder.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by my team-mates over at Fusion.

Geometric Birthday

Hi and welcome to the newest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, where this week I am the sketch hostess.  I came up with the sketch some weeks ago and then when I went to make my card, I had a brain freeze!  In the end I came up with this card:

The background vertical element is hot foiled onto the white panel using gold foil.  The leaves were stamped and Copic-coloured and then I splashed some water onto them before adding gold embossing powder and heat-setting.  I like the random look of the gold splodges.  I then fussy-cut the leaves and arranged onto my foiled panel.

The sentiment is gold embossed onto black and I finished with some black enamel dots.

Thanks so much for visiting!  Please check out the fabulous creations made by the design team.

Pink Thanks

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with a card for the latest challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, where our hostess is Cecile Ribon.  Here is my card:

I already had the flower watercoloured from a previous colouring session and I think I used Zig markers to colour it.  I cut it with my Scan n Cut.  The card base is Neenah Desert Storm onto which I white-embossed a background stamp.  I stamped the notebook paper then die-cut it with a notebook die before stamping the sentiment.

Then it was just a matter of putting it all together.  The flower is added with foam tape for some dimension.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the design team.

Products used:
