Delilah

You probably have to be of an age to get the meaning of this blog post title.  I hope you don't have an ear worm now but as soon as I found this "Hey There" die, I couldn't get the song out of my head 😄

Anyway, Amy O'Neill is our sketch hostess over at Freshly Made Sketches this week.  I looked through my NBUS and found this cassette tape die and the card came together pretty easily.  I stenciled the card base with a music stencil and white embossing paste.

While that was drying, I put together the die-cut elements.  For the fishtail flag, I cut the top and bottom in two additional colours and adhered them to the vellum flag.  It's hard to tell in the photo, but the actual tape is cut from dark brown cardstock.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Christmas Cheer With Newton

Hi, I'm thrilled to be back again with a card for the Caffeinated Christmas challenge where this month the team is looking for green.  I chose a sponsor image I have had for several years to come up with this Christmas card.

I created the wreath with a WPlus 9 set onto a white panel and die-cut it with a wonky rectangle die.  I then stamped and coloured up Newton with his coffee.  The sentiment is from another WPlus9 set.  I mounted this panel onto a green panel cut with a larger wonky rectangle die and then onto a white card base.

Thanks so much for visiting and thanks to the team at Caffeinated Christmas for inviting me to play along this month.

Coffee Time

It's time for another challenge from the Fusion team and I took inspiration from both the sketch and photo this time to create a chalkboard-themed card.

The sentiments and images for the background came from multiple stamp sets and after I laid them out in my Misti, I white-embossed them onto black cardstock.  I rubbed on a bit of white pigment ink to give the impression of a chalkbaord and then went to work on the rest of the card.

The cup was already coloured and tucked into my stamp pocket, so that made the job quicker!  I stamped the sentiment with black ink onto a white strip and tucked a piece of vellum behind in line with the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the rest of the DT cards and play along with us.

I'm playing along with the coffee/tea theme at Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

Flowers for a Friend

Welcome!  Today's card was made for a friend who suddenly lost her mother.  My heart hurts for her and her family and I wish I could give her a hug in real life, but instead I made this card to send to her across the miles.

I wanted to create something tasteful yet not morose and I hope this card fits the bill.  I stamped and colored the flowers using Copics then cut them with my Scan n Cut.  Once that was finished, I added little touches of Rock Candy Distress Glitter to the flower centres and to the buds and set it aside to dry.

On the white card base, I added some green and pink patterned paper and then a white circle.  Over top of that, I added a vellum overlay and I die-cut where the flowers would go with a scalloped peek-a-boo die.  The sentiment was gold-embossed onto the vellum and then the vellum was adhered to the card putting little dots of glue under the sentiment and where the flowers and sequins would go.  To secure the top, I added some white baker's twine tied in a bow.

The flowers are popped up on foam tape and some sparkling clear confetti finished the card.

I was guided by the sketch at Inky Paws for this card as well as the inspiration photo at Card Concept where I was drawn to the gold and the florals for this Clean and Layered card.  I softened the look somewhat with the vellum to add to the theme, and that also works for the Inkspirational Challenge.  Finally, I'm adding this to The Flower Challenge who are looking for sparkle.  Because this is a sympathy card, naturally I kept the sparkle to a minimum but I hope the distress glitter, the gold embossing and the sequins add enough sparkle for the challenge.

Thanks for visiting!  It's quite late on Saturday night, so this card will be going in the post tomorrow to wing its way across the world.

Hello Kitty

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with the card I created and the two cards I received as part of the Card Chain Challenge.  This month I went with the sketch and the cats theme to come up with this card, which was sent to Helen in Ohio.

This adorable image is from Newton's Nook and was colored with Copic markers as part of the last 30 Day Marker Challenge, so I don't have the colors that I used.

The patterned papers were die-cut with stitched dies and adhered to a white top-folding card base.  The circular piece is actually foiled and is sparkly in real life.

I finished with a hello die from MFT cut from Steel Gray cardstock.

And here are the two gorgeous cards I received from Betty (photos borrowed from Betty's blog).  I was so touched that Betty send an Autumn card as well as a Spring card, as we are coming into Spring here in the Southern Hemisphere.

I am really enjoying participating in this challenge each month and I urge you to join in if you're anything like me and love sending and receiving beautiful handmade cards.  The October challenge is open until 6 October for sign-up.

Here is the challenge graphic.

Hello Peony

Hi all!  Thanks for visiting!  It's time for another Fusion Challenge and I'm particularly partial to both the sketch and the photo, and I really like my card, which doesn't happen all the time 😄

I created a fusion this week, pulling in the wood and the pinks and greens from the photos.

I stamped and colored this beautiful peony image (yes, it is from the same set I used in yesterday's FMS card!) and cut it with my Scan n Cut.  The rest of the card was really simple - just some die-cut patterned paper and a sweet scripty sentiment.  I did film the making of this card which you can see below or over on YouTube.

To watch the making of this card, head over to YouTube or watch below.

I'm linking this up to the latest Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge to use a die or punch.  I used dies for the gingham papers.

Red Peony

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is the wonderful Linda Callahan.  Check out her fun sketch:

I took a few liberties with Linda's sketch but I hope you can sort of see it - if you close one eye and squint through the other, that is 😄

The two circles in the top are represented by the peony and the bud and the two leaves at the bottom are the bottom circle.  I colored the images with Copics and Prismacolor pencils and then cut them with my Scan n Cut.  They were then adhered to a white panel, cut narrower than card base size.  I added the sentiment then put it to one side.

The black panel was stenciled with the Bubbly stencil and Licorice Glitter Embossing Paste.  Once it was dry, I adhered it to a white top-folding card base.

I glued a thin strip of Limelight cardstock onto the side of a main image panel and after adding some craft foam, I adhered it to the card base.  Finally, I colored the flower with clear sparkle pen.

Here's another angle so you can see the stenciling.

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have some gorgeous cards, so be sure to check them out.  I'm linking this card to the color challenge at Inky Paws.

Not a Cupcake in Sight...

Hi!  Welcome to another Fusion challenge.  Check out the gorgeous cupcakes on offer this week:

I have to admit, when I came up with this challenge, I never thought I'd struggle to make a card using the inspiration photo, but for weeks now I had nothing!  So I decided to work with just the sketch and one of my new Newton stamp sets.

Yep, it's another Newton card!  Sorry, not sorry 😂I thought the oval in the sketch would work well with Newton drifting up into the sky with his balloons, so I created a little scene behind him that also used the elements of the sketch.  I die-cut the grass three times and sponged some Mowed Lawn ink on the top of the blades to add dimension.  I used the Mini Cloud Stencil and some Tumbled Glass ink to create the clouds and for the sentiment panel, I white-embossed the sentiment onto a strip of black cardstock.  The black was adhered directly to a white card base, but the sky and grass were popped up on foam tape.  Finally I added Newton.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you check out the rest of the design team's cards - they're gorgeous as always.

Newton's Boxes

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with another sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and this week it's my turn to be hostess.  Here is the simple sketch I came up with.

My teamie, Jennifer Timko, is on the Newton's Nook design team and after seeing her release posts, I had to go visit the store and buy up large, so expect to see a few Newton's Nook cards on the blog for the next wee while as I ink them up and turn them into cards 😄So here's the first:

I colored up this adorable image and cut it with my Scan n Cut before setting it aside to work on the rest of the card.  I had it in my head that I wanted an embossed resist background, so I partially embossed the Prism Lines stamp by Hero Arts and then added distress inks with my finger to create a sort of rainbow background.  I then stamped the sentiment at the bottom and added thin black strips of cardstock down either side.

I added foam tape behind that panel and adhered it to a top-folding white card base.  I then added more foam tape behind the Newton image and adhered that to the top.

Thanks so much for visiting!  My teamies have done some amazing things with my sketch, so I hope you'll head on over and check them out and I'd be thrilled if you joined in and added a card to the gallery.

I'm linking this card up to the Paper Players Animal Antics Challenge

Newton's Coffee

Hi!  It's a long weekend here in New Zealand and I took advantage of that to add another day on either end.  So on this cold Friday, I'm snug in my craft room having fun 😄

I wanted to play along at least once with the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Bloghop so I combined that challenge with the gorgeous colors at Time Out and the sketch at Newton Nook to come up with this card.

I colored up this adorable image of Newton and die-cut him with the co-ordinating die, before putting him to one side to focus on the rest of the card.  Onto a white card base, I stamped the sentiment and the image of coffee beans in Versafine Onyx Black ink.  I then layered up some Black & White striped paper, a Ripe Raspberry gingham stitched fishtail flag and a Sour Apple stitched fishtail flag.  Around that I tied some black and white baker's twine - man, it's been an age since I used baker's twine!

I framed Newton with a stitched circle die cut from Ripe Raspberry cardstock and popped it up on foam tape.

I love these bright, fresh colors - so nice for us down under who are heading into winter.

Thanks so much for visiting!
