Layered Roses

Hi and welcome to the latest sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches where our hostess is our resident Artisan, Narelle Farrugia

For my card, I decided to layer up some flowers and stamp the sentiment onto all the layers.  This is where my Misti comes in very, very handy.

I stamped and die-cut all the roses using orange inks then added some foliage to the mix.  After arranging the images to most closely resemble the sketch, I used Press n Seal to hold the arrangement in place and set it aside.

Onto my white top-folding card base, I stamped the sentiment in black ink and left the stamp in my Misti.  I then added liquid glue to the bottom-most layer of flowers and foliage.  I adhered those on top of the stamped sentiment and put the rest - still stuck to the Press n Seal - to one side.  I re-stamped the sentiment - this time onto the bottom layer of flowers which are stuck to the card base.  Because of the Misti it stamped in exactly the same position as earlier - score!

I then adhered my second layer of flowers and foliage and re-stamped like before.  Finally I added the smallest rose with foam tape and very carefully re-stamped the sentiment.  To finish the card, I added some Jewel Drops.

Thanks for visiting.  Please head over and check out the gorgeous cards made by the rest of the design team.

About You

Hi!  It's my turn to host the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches and as is my preference, I've come up with a very CAS sketch.  And I was inspired by my team-mate Kim's card for my sketch.

I needed a birthday card for my mother, and as always, I try to make cards for my parents extra special.

I've had this Sketched Flowers set for a few months and this is the first time I've used it.  I stamped it onto X-Press It card and colored it with Copics and Prismacolor pencils.  I then created a mask for the image and after adding that, I blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink over the top.  In hindsight, I wish I'd used the origianl Distress Ink because the oxide dulled down the stamped outlines that were still visible outside the mask, so I had to go over the whole image with a black pen - talk about nerve-wracking!

My original intention when I came up with the sketch was to allow for the use of the gorgeous big sentiment dies, but in this case, the words covered too much of the image so I chose a big stamp instead and stamped it in Versafine Onyx Black.  To make it stand out from the image, I clear-embossed the sentiment and added a shadow to the letters with gray Copic marker.  I then added the rest of the sentiment and set about putting the card together.

However, it still looked a bit bare so I die-cut a frame out of it using two rectangle dies and added foam tape behind the outer frame and the centre panel and finally called it done.

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have made some gorgeous cards with my sketch so I hope you'll check them out.

I'm linking this up to Seize the Birthday's Anything Goes challenge as well as The Flower Challenge to use your latest stamps.  I haven't been buying much in the way of craft supplies lately so while these stamps are a few months old, they are my newest floral stamps.

Clink

Hi and welcome to the latest challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  This week our hostess is Cecile Ribon and here is her very interesting sketch.

Fun, right?  I originally was going to go with triangle die-cuts but I didn't have triangles with that same long shape (and I know there's a proper name for that shape but hey, it's been a few decades since I was at high schoolπŸ˜„).  Anyway, Plan B called for a change and while I was flicking through my dies, I saw this martini glass die and figured that'd work!

Now I know it looks like I went veered completely away from the sketch, but to prove I did stick to it pretty well, I overlaid the sketch onto my card.

See?  πŸ˜†
The card is pretty self-explanatory so I won't go into any detail other than to say I added shading to some of the elements with Copic markers.

Thanks for visiting!  The DT have created some gorgeous cards with this sketch so I hope you'll check them out.

Thinking Flowers

Hi!  It's time for another fabulous challenge over at Fusion and this time we have a bright and cheerful challenge headed your way!  First up I'll show you my card, which was a fusion of both sketch and photo.

And here is the challenge graphic.  You can see I focused on the bouquet of flowers in the photo.

I colored up several of the images from Winnie & Walter's In Bloom:  Addie's Garden set, which is one of my favourite floral sets.  Once the images were colored and die-cut, I arranged them into a bouquet and used Press 'n Seal to hold the bouquet in place while I worked on the rest of the card - which was pretty simple!

I found some cardstock that most closely matched the pinks in the flowers and die-cut it with a rounded square die before adhering it to a white card base.  Before I added the bouquet, I stamped the sentiment from a Gina K set, which is fast becoming a favourite for caring sentiments.  Finally I added the bouquet and some Nuvo Jewel Drops and set it aside to dry.

Here are the Copics I used to color the images.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the amazing cards created by the rest of the design team.

I'm linking this card up to CASology who have a Bouquet cue card this week.

Showers of Love

It's time for another challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and, boy, has Jen Brum come up with a fun sketch for us this week.  I'll show you my card and see if you can work out what the sketch is πŸ˜„

Yep, circles!  Lots and lots of circles!  Of course, it doesn't have to be circles, but we're wanting to see lots and lots of something down the right hand side of your card.  I had so many ideas for this sketch and ended up making two different cards but I decided to stick with my first card which was drawn by yours truly.  I was a bit hesitant to post it because these are meant to be raindrops and I don't know that they look like rain drops, but never to mind πŸ˜„

I drew these after following a mini-technique class created by Alyce at Kit and Clowder.  This was my first attempt.  I drew them onto Blue Yonder cardstock as that most closely matched my Copics then I colored them with a combination of Copics and white Prismacolor pencil.  I couldn't do a lot of blending as the cardstock wasn't designed for Copic coloring, but I quite like the unblended look.  I hope they look 3-dimensional?

To finish the card, I hunted through my sentiments to find a "rain" theme and came up with this one from Rain or Shine by MFT, which was white-embossed onto the blue card.  Finally the panel was adhered to a white card base and I called it done.

Please check out how the design team was inspired by this sketch - there are some wonderful cards on display!

I'm linking this up to The Paper Players "Love" challenge - this isn't your typical love card, but I was inspired by the "in the air" part of the challenge as isn't that where raindrops come from? πŸ˜‚  Just Us Girls also have a love-themed challenge, so I'll add my card there, too.

Products used:

Stamps:  Rain or Shine (MFT)
Ink:  Versamark
Cardstock:  Blue Yonder, Smooth White (MFT)
Accessories:  Copics (B32, B34, B37, B39), Prisma White, White EP

January Card Chain Challenge

I'm a terrible blogger!  I have played along with the Card Chain Challenge for several months now, but I keep forgetting to post my card on reveal day!  I think the 2nd of the month is reveal day (my time) so I'm a few days late, but here is my card anyway.

There are several challenge options you can choose - sketch, colours, themes or techniques.  I went with the sketch and the friendship theme for my card which I sent to Joanne in the UK.  Here is the sketch:

For my card I die-cut some circles from a white panel and then positioned that panel over the card base so I could mark the cut-outs.  I then sponged some Distress Ink into the cut-outs before adhering the panel onto the card base.

I then stamped and colored a couple of the chicks from Birthday Chicks set and added them to the circles.  The "friend" die is stacked and the rest of the sentiment is white embossed onto black.

And that is it!  Amazingly, this card made it from New Zealand to England in 4 days - quicker than it takes to get around New Zealand!

And because sometimes being late works, there is a new challenge at Addicted to CAS which is looking for bird cards.  How serendipitous πŸ˜€

Thanks, as always, for taking the time to visit.
