Shades of Grey

Hi and welcome!  It's Camp Create time and once again, I've tried to make a card for every challenge and I did it!  This is the first of six posts I'll spread out over the week with my cards for each challenge, including the bonus challenge.

This first card is for the Monochromatic Challenge and I went with grey tones to come up with this card.

I started with a Soft Stone card base and lightly sponged Fog ink over the Geometric Grid stencil.  Down the left hand side, I put some Smoke cardstock and I embossed both panels with a stitched rectangle die.

A die-cut fishtail frame was cut from Slate cardstock, then the little black tab was cut from Blueprints 16.  A grey enamel dot was placed off center.

Finally the sentiment was stamped with Smoke ink.

Thanks for visiting.

Feel Better Flowers

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketches!  Today our sketch comes to you from the talented Kim Singdahlsen and she has a fabulous layered sketch for us.

Sometimes when I see a sketch I see the different panels  in weird ways, and this time I saw the dark horizontal panel as a cutout in the card front, so that's the direction I took.  Because of that, I had to swap the width of the two horizontal panels to provide something for the sentiment panel to adhere to.  You'll see what I mean when you see my card.

It's hard to tell in the photo the but card base was cut and a sponged Hickory Smoke panel was adhered in the gap.  The floral panel was watercolored with my Zig markers and then I went over the whole background with a light wash of Hickory Smoke.  When coloring the images, I deliberately went for a looser feel and didn't go right to the edges on all the images.

Once I was happy with the panel I cut it down and adhered it to the card base.  Then I stamped the sentiment onto a vellum panel and folded it around the card front and glued it to the inside.

Thanks for visiting.  The design team have created some wonderful cards with this sketch so please check them out.

Party Banners

Hi and welcome to SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge.  This week we have such a fun photo and sketch to inspire you:

I mainly stuck with the photo but there's also a bit of sketch in there too :)

After sponging some distress inks onto some watercolor paper, I die-cut using the fun Party Banner Duo dies.  I then spritzed some Perfect Pearls mist which gives a lovely shimmer in real life.  Putting the banners aside, I stamped the sentiment from Celebrate All The Things and embossed it with Black Sparkle embossing powder.  The panel was die-cut with Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles and foam mounted onto a white card base.

Thanks for visiting!

Watercolored Thank You

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made using the colors from Color Throwdown, the Masking theme at Happy Little Stampers, the watercolor theme at CASology and the photo inspiration at Addicted to Stamps & More.  As you will see I went rather literal with my inspiration :)

There's not a lot of white space on my card, so I don't really think it fits very well at CASology, but we shall see.  For my card, I used the Freezer Paper Masking Technique as shown by Kristina Werner and ironed the "thank you" onto some watercolor paper before loosely watercoloring with some Broken China and Mermaid Lagoon ink, deliberately leaving the edges a bit jagged.

Once I was happy with the watercoloring, I removed the freezer paper and die-cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.  I then die-cut a scalloped edge die using Desert Storm and adhered that to a white card base.  The watercolored panel is popped up on foam tape.  Lastly, I dropped some shaker sequins onto the card front and pretty much adhered them where they fell :)

Thanks for visiting.

Soda Pop

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketches where the adorable and talented Linda Callahan is our hostess this week.

When I saw the sketch a few weeks ago, I first thought of using leaves for the "Any Shape" elements, but when I was looking through my dies, I found these soda pop dies and thought they'd be perfect.

I die-cut the bottles then sponged some Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron ink onto the bottles, fading out towards the top.  I stamped and adhered the labels and the sentiment panel.  The card base was lightly sponged with Peacock Feathers ink focusing in the area the bottles would be placed.  I finished with a silver thread nest behind the bottles.

Thanks for visiting.  Check out the fabulous creations made by the rest of the design team and I hope you can join us this week.

Special Day

Hi, today is Mix It Up Challenge Day at SugarPea Designs and here is this week's challenge:

For my card, I stuck with the sketch only this week and came up with a simple card.

I started with a white card base an onto that I adhered a piece of watercolor paper that I'd sponged over with Peacock Feathers ink then a honeycomb stencil.  I die-cut a Stitched Flag and trimmed the sides a little bit and adhered that directly to the honeycomb panel.  The die-cut sentiment is stacked three high and colored with clear Wink of Stella.  I stamped the rest of the sentiment onto the flag then adhered some of the smaller elements of the Atmosphere Sparkly Shaker Collection.

And that's it!

Birthday Bears

Hi!  It's Saturday morning here and I have a card that I finished last night to show you.  I got the Beary Special Birthday set and dies on Thursday and on Thursday night I just had to color one of the images - they are so cute!  Then on Friday night, I made that image into a card using the current sketch at MFT and the colors from Color Throwdown.  I'm also linking up to Seize the Birthday.

This card just makes me smile!  I love the background and I love that little bear.  To make the background, I sponged Melon and Duckling inks onto a panel of Tim Holtz watercolor paper.  Then I dropped some Perfect Pearls shimmer mist onto the panel.  Finally, I took the Scribble Script stencil and sponged over the top using those same two ink colors.  I just love that stencil - in fact, it's probably my favorite.  The script is undefined enough to be text when you want it to be text and to just be a pattern when you just want a bit of interest in the background, like I've done here.

For the rest of the card, I die-cut a white pierced rectangle frame, cutting off the bottom.  I also white-embossed a sentiment onto black, both of which are popped up on foam tape, as is the bear.  I couldn't decide what to put in the top right corner as per the sketch, but finally decided on two layers of Party Banner dies, the bottom layer sponged in Rosie Cheeks ink and the top frame layer sponged in Duckling.

Thanks for visiting!
