Showers of Love

It's time for another challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and, boy, has Jen Brum come up with a fun sketch for us this week.  I'll show you my card and see if you can work out what the sketch is 😄

Yep, circles!  Lots and lots of circles!  Of course, it doesn't have to be circles, but we're wanting to see lots and lots of something down the right hand side of your card.  I had so many ideas for this sketch and ended up making two different cards but I decided to stick with my first card which was drawn by yours truly.  I was a bit hesitant to post it because these are meant to be raindrops and I don't know that they look like rain drops, but never to mind 😄

I drew these after following a mini-technique class created by Alyce at Kit and Clowder.  This was my first attempt.  I drew them onto Blue Yonder cardstock as that most closely matched my Copics then I colored them with a combination of Copics and white Prismacolor pencil.  I couldn't do a lot of blending as the cardstock wasn't designed for Copic coloring, but I quite like the unblended look.  I hope they look 3-dimensional?

To finish the card, I hunted through my sentiments to find a "rain" theme and came up with this one from Rain or Shine by MFT, which was white-embossed onto the blue card.  Finally the panel was adhered to a white card base and I called it done.

Please check out how the design team was inspired by this sketch - there are some wonderful cards on display!

I'm linking this up to The Paper Players "Love" challenge - this isn't your typical love card, but I was inspired by the "in the air" part of the challenge as isn't that where raindrops come from? 😂  Just Us Girls also have a love-themed challenge, so I'll add my card there, too.

Products used:

Stamps:  Rain or Shine (MFT)
Ink:  Versamark
Cardstock:  Blue Yonder, Smooth White (MFT)
Accessories:  Copics (B32, B34, B37, B39), Prisma White, White EP

Cheers
Karren

Well, they look EXACTLY like they are just sitting on your card and very 3D. You totally nailed that technique and I love your take on the sketch!

The 3D effect is really amazing, Karren! My first thought seeing this card was that you'd attached some sort of pebble glass pieces!

You GO girl!!! Karren, these are outstanding! To me, and with my weather today, they look like rain drops that have beaded up on a very well waxed surface! No matter how one looks at them, Fantastic!!

Wow Karren! what a great job on those 'raindrops' I did think they were clear flat marbles actually - but never thought you had drawn them yourself! You really learned the technique from your class - the shading and depth created is wonderful!

You hope they look three dimensional? Well, I'm pleased to present you with the understatement of the year award! Your droplets are amazing and when I first saw this card I thought you must have used some fancy paper with realistic images. They not only look 3D they also appear wet! What an amazing look!
