Purple Butterflies

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another challenge at Fusion and we've gone for a CAS sketch and a beautiful floral inspiration photo.

I stuck with the sketch for this card, even though I just love that photo!

My card was made using purples and yellows and I got out my Distress Oxide ink (again!) I colored and die-cut some of the butterflies from Avery Elle's Butterflies set and arranged them onto a sponged panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Down each side of that panel, I layered a strip of Boysenberry cardstock.  The sentiment was die-cut from the same Boysenberry color and painted with clear sparkle pen.  The rest of the sentiment was white-embossed onto black.

Thanks so much for visiting!  The design team have some gorgeous cards using this challenge so be sure to check them out.

I'm linking this up to the current challenge at Time Out where they have a gorgeous butterfly-themed inspiration photo.

Products used:

Stamps:  Butterflies (Avery Elle), Celebrate All The Things (SPD)
Ink:  Black Licorice Hybrid, Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide
Cardstock:  White, Bristol Smooth, Boysenberry (MFT)
Dies:  Butterflies (AE), Celebrate (SPD)
Accessories:  Copics, Clear Sparkle Pen

Celebrating with Oxides

Hi and welcome!

This will be a quick post because I injured my eye on Saturday and it's still healing, so looking at screens for too long is quite painful.  This card, which uses the sketch from the lovely Jen Brum at Freshly Made Sketches, took me 4 days to make!

When I started it, I didn't realise I'd got a corneal abrasion and thought I just had some grit in my eye, so worked around that to make the separate components of the card.  After a couple of hours, it was so painful I had to go to the doctor and after some freaky tests, was diagnosed with a 3mm abrasion.  I'll spare you any more details.  Long story short, it is healing, but slowly and my eye is still quite sensitive to light and my vision is still a bit blurred.  I put this card together on Tuesday night and it took a while to get the panels straight 😃

I used emboss resist and distress oxide inks for the bottom panel and some SugarPea Designs stamps and die for the top panel.  I'm linking up to SPD's 3rd birthday bash - congrats to Wendy and the team on this fabulous accomplishment.

And finally, here is the gorgeous sketch for this week.

I hope you'll have time to play along and head on over and check out the gorgeous creations made by the rest of the DT.

Cupcake Bird

Hi and welcome!  It's my turn to host over at Inspired By All The Little Things and I have chosen a photo that lends itself to Easter cards, critter cards, food cards or just go with the colors!

For my guest, I have invited Lisa Lara, who makes the most adorable cards and is one of the best Copic colorists I know.  Be sure to check out her card and prepare to be wow'd (and smile!)

For my card, I wanted to stick with the cupcake and bird theme, so after a bit of masking, I came up with this card.

I love this stamp set from MFT and I used the bird from Somebunny to add a bit of fun to it.  I won't go into any great detail because I filmed the making of this card so you can watch it below or over on YouTube

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to head on over the the IBATLT blog to check out Lisa's card and the fabulous cards made by the design team.

Edited to Add:  While looking at this post in preview mode before scheduling it, it struck me that the bird looks like he could very well be sitting in a huge pile of bird poop!  Rest assured that wasn't my intention, but is actually quite funny when I look at it now 😄

Products used:

Stamps:  Somebunny, Sweet Birthday Wishes, Because You (MFT),
Ink:  Black Licorice Hybrid
Cardstock:  White, X-Press It, Dark Chocolate (SSS)
Dies:  Because You, Blueprints 20 (MFT)
Accessories:  Copics, Fun Foam, Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen

Cup of Pansies

Check out the gorgeous inspiration photo the Just Add Ink team have for you this week:

No automatic alt text available.

It's pretty obvious how I was inspired...

I have to admit to buying this Taylored Expressions stamp set specifically for this challenge (like I needed an excuse, really 😃😃)  I stamped it onto a panel of X-Press It blending card then colored it with Copic markers.  I then fussy-cut around the left side of the image, using my paper trimmer for the straight bits, before running it through my Big Shot with a stitched edge die.

Onto the white card base I adhered a strip of Blue Violet cardstock that I'd white embossed a birthday sentiment onto.  The colored panel is popped up on foam tape and the flowers are colored with clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting.  Be sure to check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Stamps:  Teacup Bouquet (Taylored Expressions), KIS:  Birthday (PTI)
Ink:  Versamark, Black Licorice Hybrid
Cardstock:  White, X-Press It, Blue Violet (SSS)
Dies:  Blueprints 22
Accessories:  Copics, White EP, Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen

Alice Trio

Hi and welcome!  It's time for another sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is the lovely and talented Cecile.  Here is her fun, square sketch:

Yes, I said square!  I love square cards but rarely think to make them, so this was a perfect opportunity.  I'm also playing along in the current Inkspirational Challenge which has a very Alice in Wonderland type photo inspiration.  I immediately thought of my very old unmounted stamps from Non Sequitur and went to work to come up with this card.

I started by stamping each of the three images onto a scrap of X-Press It card then I created masks for each image and masked them.  I sponged on some Distress Oxide inks and then over-stamped with a text image from one of the stamp sets.  After removing the masks, I colored the images with Copics before die-cutting them with a rounded square die.

Each image was matted onto a black panel and then arranged onto a 5" square white card.  The rabbit is popped up on foam tape but the rest are adhered straight to the card base.  The sentiment is from a PTI set and I thought the "belated" part worked quite well with the Alice theme 😃

I have to admit to really liking this card.  And the distress oxide inks are fun to play with.

Thanks so much for visiting.  The rest of the design team have some fabulous cards so head on over and check them out.

Products used:

Stamps:  Scrabble, Go Ask Alice (Non Sequitur), KIS:  Belated Happy Birthday (PTI)
Ink:  Black Licorice Hybrid, Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  White, Black, X-Press It
Dies:  Nesting Rounded Squares (Lifestyle Crafts)
Accessories:  Copic Markers

Sending Hugs

Hi and welcome!  We're back with another challenge at The Flower Challenge and this month we have a sketch for you.  Here is the card I created using this CAS sketch.

When I saw the sketch, I saw the horizontal panel as negative space, so that's the direction I took.  I stamped and colored the floral image and cut it out with the co-ordinating die.  I then cut a segment out of the card base and adhered some gingham paper in the gap before adhering the card base back together using foam tape.

Finally, I added the flower and sentiment and my card was done.

Thanks so much for visiting!  The design team have some wonderful cards using this sketch, so be sure to check them out.

Products used:

Stamps:  Beautiful Friend (Clearly Besotted), Friendship Messages (SSS)
Ink: Intense Black (SSS), Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  White, Homespun Gingham (MFT)
Dies:  Beautiful Friend (CB), Stitched Rectangle Mat (Lil' Inkers)
Accessories: Copics, white gel pen, Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen

Ranunculus

Welcome to a very special celebration at Inspired by all the Little Things.  We are celebrating our 50th challenge and look at the gorgeous photo Leigh has chosen:

As part of the celebration, each of the challenge team as well as the weekly design team have invited a guest, so you have a wonderful feast of gorgeous inspiration over on the challenge blog.  My guest is the amazingly-talented TaeEun, who has created the most gorgeous card.

For my card, I was inspired primarily by the flowers and the little lights in the background.

I stamped the floral image onto a white top-folding card base then colored it with Copics.  I then sprayed it with some gold shimmer spritz and once it was dry, I die-cut the Big Hello die from the colored image.

I die-cut the same die 5 times from black cardstock and stacked it behind the top layer to create a camouflaged die-cut.

Finally, I finished the card with some Copper Penny Nuvo Drops.

Thanks for visiting.  Please take the time to check out all the fabulous inspiration from our design team and our wonderful guests.

Products used:

Stamps:  Beautiful Bouquets:  Ranunculus (WP9)
Ink:  Black Licorice Hybrid
Cardstock:  White, Black
Dies:  Big Hello (MFT)
Accessories:  Copics, Heidi Swapp Gold Spray, Copper Penny Nuvo Drops
