Fairy Orbs

Welcome to my blog!  I'm back with another challenge from Just Add Ink and this week we have a sketch by Narelle.  Rather than adding layers to my card, I decided to use stamps to mimic the elements in the sketch.

I used a NBUS set called Watercolor Frames for the central splatter and stamped that in Autumn Blaze ink by Altenew.  I then took three other Altenew inks and stamped the Fairy Orbs images in a diagonal pattern at the top left and bottom right of the panel.  The sentiment was stamped and cut out and added to the panel before it was adhered to a white card base using foam tape.  I finished the card with some black Nuvo Crystal Drops.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you have time to check out the fabulous inspiration from the rest of the team and also make a card using this sketch yourself.

You're Amazing

Hi and welcome!  I'm back with a card using the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is the delightful and talented Linda Callahan.  And check out the fun and versatile sketch Linda has for us:

I immediately saw the angled panel as negative space, so took a panel of white cardstock and cut it from corner to corner, then took a strip off each angled panel.  I did a bit of stenciling on the left hand panel, stamped part of the sentiment then adhered both panels to a black card base using foam tape.

From there it was a simple matter of die-cutting the "because" twice - once in lime and once in black and slightly offsetting the black layer to create a shadow.  Some black Nuvo drops finished the card.  Easy as!

Thanks for visiting!  Head on over to the blog and check out the fabulous creations by the rest of the DT.

I'm linking this up to the black, white and one other color challenge at The Challenge.

Hydrangea Hello

Welcome to another fabulous Fusion challenge!  Today we've gone with an elegant, soft-shaded inspiration photo and a fun sketch featuring an angled panel.
I created a fusion with my card to come up with this.

I decided it was high-time I got out my Zig markers so chose to do a bit of watercoloring of this gorgeous Mondo Hydrangea flower and leaf, which I white embossed onto Bristol Smooth cardstock.  Once they was colored and die-cut, I set them aside to work on the card base.  I die-cut a curve from a panel of white cardstock and also a strip of gold foil cardstock.  Layering the gold behind the white, I adhered both to a white top-folding card base with foam tape.  I then added the hydrangea, using foam for the top portion and liquid glue for the bottom.  The sentiment was die-cut from toner paper and gold-foiled and I finished the card with a solitary falling petal beside the sentiment.

Thanks so  much for visiting!  I'm linking this up to the current Flower Challenge, where they are asking for heat or dry embossing, and the Anything Goes challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More.

In the Wild

Hi and welcome to Freshly Made Sketch Day!  Our sketches hostess this week is our other fabulous co-leader, Jen Mitchell and she has a very cool sketch for us:

I wanted to play with my latest My Monthly Hero Kit before the next one arrived 😉 so decided to create an ink-blended scene with silhouette images.

Looking at the photo, I now see my elephant is standing on his front two feet and his back feet up slightly up in the air, but let's just say that's an indication of how strong he actually is 😄.

I used various Distress Inks to create my background and also my frame.  I then adhered my frame at an angle on the card base before adding the die-cut grass and tree and the stamped and die-cut elephant.  Finally I stamped some birds and white-embossed the sentiment.

I love, love, love the Hero Arts kits - they are such value for money and the images are fabulous!  My latest kit arrived yesterday and I'm looking forward to using it.

Head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the DT have done with this sketch.  As always, their cards are an inspiration.

Bearing Gifts

Hi!  This is another card I made during my few days off work.  I used the colors from MFT Stamps and the sketch from The Challenge.

I started with a Tropical Teal card base and I clear-embossed the Mermaid Tail Background stamp onto it, as I thought that went with the fish in the bucket.  From there I masked, stamped and colored the images onto a panel of X-Press It cardstock.  Once they were colored, I added the sentiment and adhered that to a panel of Gravel Gray cardstock.

I die-cut two little flags from black and attached them at an angle, as per the sketch, and my card was done.

Beary Birthday

Hi all!  I've had a few days off work and, wouldn't you know it, on the second day I got a nasty cold!  Murphy's Law!  Anyway, I made a couple of cards for challenges before I got sick, so here's the first one.  For this one I used the sketch from MFT Stamps and the colors from Color Throwdown.

I stamped, colored and die-cut the images before arranging them around a polaroid frame.  Then I set to work on the card base with the curved panels.  I decided to go with a piece of watercolor wash paper in a pale pink color die-cut at both ends with a Stitched Basic Edges 2 die..  From there I adhered my polaroid frame and images and then a stacked die-cut work, painted with clear sparkle pen for some shimmer.

I finished the card with some Nuvo Jewel Drops.

Christmas Wags

Hi and welcome to another challenge from the team at Just Add Ink.  This week we've got a twist for you:  use a birthday stamp set for a Christmas card!  Fun, right?

I don't have a lot of specifically birthday sets, but I have a lot of all occasion sets, so I decided to pull out Playful Pups and create a fun Christmas card.

I stamped and colored the image and die-cut it with the co-ordinating die.  I then die-cut the circles in a white card base to add some interest.  The sentiment was die-cut from alphabet dies and placed inside the circe.  Finally, I popped the image up on foam tape and placed it near the bottom of the card.

Chews to Party

Hi! The weeks are going so fast, I can't believe it's time for another sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week, our fearless and talented co-leader, Jennifer Timko, is our sketch hostess.  Check out her fabulous sketch:

So, we have a square sketch (yay!) plus we have a big open space in the centre (yay!).

I decided to do a bit of coloring for my centre panel and came up with this card:

I colored up this fun Art Impressions goat that was in my NBUS box.  Once he was colored, I die-cut him with a stitched square die.  I also cut two glitter strips with stitched dies and stacked them under the main panel, using foam tape.  I added foam tape to the rest of the colored image and adhered it to a white square card base.

What you can't see in the photo is that I colored all the red ribbon, the confetti and the hat with Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen to give it a bit of shimmer.  I also die-cut some tiny stars from the blue and silver glimmer paper and added them around the image.

Head on over to the challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT have done with the sketch.  You'll be sure to be amazed - I always am!

Mermaid Kisses

Hi and welcome!  I'm back with another Fusion challenge and this time we're going with a summery theme, even though it's the depths of winter here 😄

For my card, I used a My Monthly Hero Kit from May, that was still NBUS!  I stamped several images onto X-Press It cardstock and colored them with Copics before die-cutting them.  Once they were all die-cut, I decided how I wanted them placed and then made a sea background for them using Distress Oxide inks.

I adhered all the images to the blended panel, popping up the mermaid and starfish on foam tape.  I backed that panel with some timber patterned paper offset at an angle and put it to one side while I worked on the rest of the card.

I created another Distress Oxide panel for the vertical strip and stamped the sentiment near the bottom.  On either side I adhered a thin sliver of the patterned paper and finally I added the image panel.

Thanks for visiting!  Head on over and check out the gorgeous cards made by the rest of the design team!

I'm linking this card up to the current challenge at The Heart Desires where I've used the nautical theme and tried to stick with the challenge colors.

Basket of Thanks

Hi and welcome!  Today's post brings you the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and this week our hostess is my Aussie mate, Narelle  Farrugia.

A gorgeous CAS sketch!  I decided to dig through my NBUS box and used one of the stamp sets released in a Hero Arts kit from a few months ago, to come up with a basket of vegetables.

I colored up the various images with Copics and then die-cut them with the matching dies.  I cut slits down either side of the basket handle and across the top so I could arrange the veges "in" the basket.  I then glued all the images in place before setting it aside to work on the rest of the card.  I die-cut a stitched circle of vellum and then adhered the sentiment (such a cool font!), which was white-embossed onto a black strip of cardstock.  The basket was added with foam tape and then I squirted some liquid glue onto the back side of the vellum where it would be hidden by the image and sentiment.  The card base is Soft Stone and I added some Jewel Drops as per the sketch.

Thanks so much for visiting!  The rest of the design team have some gorgeous cards so be sure to check them out.

I'm linking this card up to Addicted to Stamps who have a CAS challenge and Inkspirational who have a Rural word prompt.  Now, vegetables aren't only rural, but agriculture is a key industry where I live, so I'm going with it :)
