Purple Flowers

Hi and welcome to a new sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches where our hostess this week is Narelle Farrigia. I took a very slight deviation from her sketch to come up with my card.

Thanks to fellow teamie Jen Brum, I had to add the Be Bold Bloom dies to my collection and this is their first outing.  I created an arrangement that sort of looks like the sketch and adhered it to a die-cut dome.  Onto a white card base I added a panel due-cut with the Stitched Ironworks due for some added interest.

I then hot-foiled a sentiment onto black card and die-cut it with a stitched die.

Thanks so much for visiting. I hope you’ll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Better With You

Hello and welcome!  I came up with the board for this week's Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge and I hope you'll find the time to have a go.  For my card, I knew I wanted to do some Copic colouring and create a wee scene so I went with Colouring-Critters-Scene to come up with this card.

Usually when I am Copic-colouring, I have a vague idea of what colours I want to use and then just pull them out as I go.  For this card, though, because there were a lot of elements, I decided to plan out my colours before I started so as to not have a mass of different colours.  Because I actually wrote down my colours for each element, I've included them here at the bottom.

After colouring all the various images, I cut them with my Scan n Cut and set them aside to work on the background.  Firstly, I masked off the card front with a rectangle mask and ink-blended blues and greens to represent a sky and ground.  Before removing the mask, I splattered on some ink as well as some white gouache and once that was all dry, I stamped the sentiment.

Finally, I added my coloured images and called it done.  Unfortunately, my little squirrel got a weepy eye as my ink obviously wasn't dry before I started colouring.

Camo Leaf

Welcome!  Today's card uses the latest sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and this week it's my turn to be sketch hostess.  Here's the card I came up with, which was completely different to what I had envisaged when I designed the sketch!

A few weeks ago, I received the Detail Leaf suite of products from Pink Fresh Studio and wanted to have a play.  Rather than go with the colours in the packaging example, I went with four different greens - not realising I would end up with a camo look!  The leaf was firstly hot-foiled with a pewter foil and then stenciled with the green inks before being die-cut with the co-ordinating die.

For the background, rather than use circles, I decided to use hexagons.  I found a cardstock that matched that lightest green, but not one that matched the darkest green (Spruce), so I decided to colour white cardstock with a direct-to-paper technique with the Spruce ink.

I finished with a stamped and die-cut sentiment.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the DT cards and find time to make a card using my sketch.

90 Years Young

Hi and welcome!  Cecile Ribon is our sketch hostess this week over at Freshly Made Sketches and she has a fabulous sketch for us to play with.  I needed a 90th birthday card for my father and the sketch was perfect.  As you can see, I took a literal interpretation to come up with my card.

I die-cut the leaves and the 90 from white card stock and ink-blended various green inks onto the die-cuts.  I also die-cut a pierced heart from both white and vellum.  I arranged the leaves both behind and in front of the white heart and adhered everything to the card base.  I then adhered the 90 to the vellum heart and added that to the card front as well.

To finish the front, I white-embossed a sentiment onto black.  I didn't add any embellishments.  For the inside, I added a couple of stamped sentiments, then die-cut another heart from vellum and added a leftover leaf sprig to it.

Thanks so much for visiting.  The DT have some gorgeous cards, so I hope you'll check them out.

I am linking this up to the CAS challenge at Inkspirational, the Stencil and/or Dies challenge at The Male Room and the Garden theme at Addicted to CAS.

Black and White Birthday

Thanks for dropping by!  I'm here with my card for the latest Tic Tac Toe challenge where I went with Square Card - Scoring - Ribbon/Twine.

This is one of those cards that looks better in real life than in a photo!  For a start, the scoring is barely visible and the sequins look black!  But never mind!

On a white card base, I used my score board to score two squares and on the outer square, I deliberately carried the lines a bit further for added interest.  The sentiment was hot-foiled onto black cardstock with gold foil and die-cut.  I added some black and white baker's twine and finished with a sprinkle of gold sequins.

Thanks so much for visiting!  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the design team!

Peach Flowers

Hi and welcome.  Today's card is for the latest challenge from the Freshly Made Sketches team and our hostess this week is Jen Mitchell.  Jen has given us a sketch perfect for colour blocking, but that's not what I did!

This card is totally not what I had planned, but after seeing this blog post from Kristina Werner, I had to try my hand at this technique.  I chose some Peach Bellini cardstock and an Altenew stamp and stencil set and set to work.  Once the stamping and stenciling was finished, I cut the panel into four pieces to match the sketch and adhered the pieces to a white card base with foam tape.

I finished the card with an already-foiled sentiment and called it done!

Thanks so much for visiting.  The design team have some fabulous cards so be sure to check them out.

I'm linking this card up to The Flower Challenge where the focus is on background stamping.  I hope this is considered background stamping.  It covers the whole background, so I'm going with yes 😄
