Beachy Birthday

Hi! Today's card is for Seize the Birthday (animals), Just Add Ink (stencils and/or dies), and the sketch at Card Challenges.

I started by stamping the girl and the turtle onto X-Press It paper.  Once dry, I coloured them in quickly with Copics.  I then took the Beach Scene Builder dies and die-cut them all from white cardstock.  I then ink-blended all the layers.  On the sand layer I stamped some "specks" with Antique Linen ink and a stamp; on the sea layer, I used a waves stencil and on the sky layer, I used a cloud stencil.  Then on both the sand and sea layers I added dots with a white gel pen.

I wasn't 100% happy with the palm tree leaves so went over them with a dark green Copic marker to try and improve the look.  Not much better, but it'll do.

I then adhered all the elements together and added a birthday sentiment.  I went over the sun with a clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting.

I just realised that the animal should be the focal point at Seize the Birthday.  If my turtle isn't focal point enough, then I'll link this to the Anything Goes challenge.

Handmade Hugs

Hi and welcome.  Today's card was made using the colours at Card Challenges as well as the sketch at Just Add Ink and the stencil challenge at Just Us Girls.

I started by stamping the flowers and leaves with various Distress Oxide Inks and then die-cut them all.  Onto a white card base, I stenciled the Chicken Wire stencil using Scattered Straw Distress Ink.  The Oceanside panel (which looks navy but is actually a dark, dark teal colour) was die-cut with the stitched border then an inside/out stitched circle to create an opening.

I added the Oceanside panel onto the card base then arranged the flowers, popping them up with foam tape.  The sentiment was white heat-embossed and tucked into the flower and stretched across to the outer edge of the card.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Products used:

Typed Birthday

Hi and welcome!  Today's card uses the sketch over at Card Challenges as well as the colours from Just Add Ink and the diecuts/stencils theme at Addicted to Stamps and More.

I started out by stenciling an arch onto a white card base using Lost Shadow Distress Ink.  I then set about building the typewriter using the challenge colours from Just Add Ink.  I stamped a sentiment onto the sheet of "paper" with Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide Ink and then adhered it to the card base with foam tape.

The sentiment was white heat-embossed onto a strip of Dahlia cardstock and adhered to the card base.  I finished with some die-cut hearts which I covered with clear sparkle pen.

Thanks for visiting!

High Top Birthday

Hi and welcome!  Today's card uses the sketch over at Card Challenges as well as the Green/Gold colour combo at Color Hues, the green die challenge at Just Us Girls and the stencils or dies challenge at Just Add Ink, where I used dies but not stencils.

Seeing the new Spellbinders club dies reminded me I had this die set from many years ago, so out it came and I had fun making some green, slightly grubby high-tops.  I die-cut the elements, added some ink-blending to dirty them up and put them together.  I used gold for the eyelets and the stars and then I also added some white thread for the laces.

I embossed a black panel with the Quilted embossing folder and adhered that to a white card base.  I then added a thin strip of gold foil and the sentiment.  Finally I propped up the shoes with foam tape.

Thanks for visiting!

Products used:

Mimosa Musings

Hi and welcome!  I had a bit of spare time yesterday so decided to play with a couple of challenges.  The sketch at Just Add Ink and the colours from Color Hues combined to make this card.

I stamped the Mimosa Musings images onto white cardstock and die-cut them.  I also stamped the main sentiment onto a white panel before running it through the Brickwork 3D embossing folder.  I chose 3 green cardstock colours and cut strips which I adhered onto the embossed panel and trimmed the sides.

I added the flowers and adhered the whole lot to a white card base.  On the inside, I stamped the remainder of the sentiment (which says "about you today") and added some more of the flowers (forgot to take a photo of the inside!)

Thanks so much for visiting.

Gilded Leaves

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made especially for a few challenges and is the first card I've made that wasn't for a DT commitment for quite some weeks!

I was inspired by the sketch at Just Add Ink, the photo at Inspired By, the colours from Color Hues and the Elegant theme at Time Out Challenges.  (As an aside green and gold were my high school colours so not my favourite combination 😄)

I started with a white card base and then added the white embossed square die-cuts as well as the strip of white which was dry embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.

For the leaves, I die-cut them from two different shades of green and then added Gilded Foundry Wax to the ends before heat-setting.  I arranged those on the card base and then added a stacked black hot-foiled sentiment.

It was at this point I thought it looked a bit stark, so added two thin slivers of gold foil on either side of the vertical panel.  Finally, I finished with some green enamel dots and a heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Products used:

Cardstock:  White, Gold Foil, Prickly Pear, Jellybean Green (MFT)
Dies:  Leaf Mix (Altenew), Wonderful Sentiments (Pink Fresh), Embossed Squares (Kat Scrappiness)
Accessories:  Black hot foil, Subtle Embossing Folder (SU), Gilded Foundry Wax (Tim Holtz), Enamel Dots (Altenew and WPlus9)

Special Day Sunflowers

Hi!  I'm back with another card.  It's rare that I get a chance to make cards just for the fun of it, but this morning I took a bit of time to make this card using the inspiration at Just Add Ink and the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge where I chose Orange/Rust-Free-Layers.  I'm also linking up The Four Seasons Fall Challenge.

I had just received this washi tape and die so wanted to try it out.

This is the Fall version of the tape - there is also a summer version which is just as pretty but more yellow.  I started my card with a white card base and layered on a gold matte foil panel over that.  The Dark Indigo panel was embossed with the Engraved EF and before adhering it, I went around the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to add a bit of interest.  From there I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches with the two angled panels to provide some layers.  Both panels are matted onto the same gold matte foil but the top layer has also been embossed.

I arranged the die-cut washi tape around the angled panels and adhered it to the card base.  The finishing touch was a hot-foiled sentiment which is adhered with foam tape.

Here's another photo so you can see the shine.

This is way more layered than I usually make, but I quite like it!  Thanks so much for visiting!

Products used:

Ink:  Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
Cardstock:  White, Dark Indigo (PTI), Gold Matte Foil
Dies:  Sunflowers (Pink Fresh Studio), Embossed Edge Rectangles (Kat Scrappiness), Yana's Special Sentiments (Spellbinders)
Accessories:  Gold Hot Foil, Sunflowers:  Fall Version Washi Tape (Pink Fresh Studio), Engraved EF (Sizzix)

Tool Time

Hi!  Today's card uses Jen Brum's sketch from the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Last weekend was Father's Day here in New Zealand and a few days beforehand I realised I didn't have any cards made.  So I sat down on Saturday and made a card for my dad and one for my husband.

Both cards are exactly the same apart from the tools.  My husband is a mechanic so I went with more car-related tools and my dad is more of a handyman, hence the saw and hammer.  I die-cut the pieces from various cardstock, adding a touch of Copic shading where I could and assembled each of the tools.

The background is made using some really old cork paper I had here from the early 2000's.  I adhered the die-cut panel to a white card base and then added two tag dies and the tools.  I finished with a simple sentiment.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

I am linking this up to the Masculine theme challenge at Just Add Ink.

Products used:

Dies:  Pegboard Cover Die, Stitched Traditional Tax Stax, Tool Time (MFT)

Sweet Friend

Hi!  I'm here with a card I made today for a few challenges - one of which closes in a few hours - so I won't dally!

I played along with Just Add Ink's Just Add Two (Coffee and Friends), as well as Tic Tac Toe where I went with Drink/Bright Colours/Circle and finally Cupcake Inspirations have a colour challenge with Purple, Lavender and Pink.

I stamped and coloured the girl with her coffee and her faithful friend and coloured them with Copics before using my Scan n Cut to cut them out.  Onto a white card base, I ink-blended Distress Oxide inks through a circle stencil, going for a gradient look.

I added the girl and dog with foam tape, colouring a bit of "shading" at their feet to ground them and then stamped the sentiment and added some enamel dots and a heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Products used:

Stamps:  Friends at First Sip (MFT)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K), Versafine Onyx Black, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Wilted Violet Distress Oxide
