Sunshiny Birthday

Hi!  Today's card uses the newest sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches, where Kim Singdahlsen is our hostess.

I stamped and coloured the image before using my Scan n Cut to cut it out.  I then went looking for some patterned paper to look like water and mattted a strip onto black cardstock.  I then stamped the sentiment with black ink.

The image was added with foam tape and I finished with some enamel dots to match the pinks in the image.

I'm linking this up to the photo inspiration challenge at Just Us Girls and the Summer Activities theme at Seize The Birthday.

Masked Flowers

Hi all!  It's a Public Holiday here in New Zealand today so I took the opportunity to make a card for a few challenges.  The Paper Players have a one layer card challenge, Krafty Chicks is All Occasions.  I'm playing along with the Anything Goes challenge at Seize the Birthday and I chose Colouring/Flowers/Metallic for Tic Tac Toe.

It's been a while since I made a one layer card and I wanted to give the impression of layers, so I used gold foiling and a masking stencil to achieve that look.

The card looks a bit meh from this angle so I took lots of photos trying to capture that shine from the gold foil.  To make the card, I firstly stamped the floral image in black ink onto a white card base.  I then used a rectangle mask to make off the outside edges before stenciling through the centre with the co-ordinating layering stencils.  I am hoping layering stencils counts as colouring for the Tic Tac Toe challenge.   I have just succumbed and bought a few Catherine Pooler inks so I tried to find some matching colours for this card.  Now to collect the rest...

Once I was finished with the colouring, I removed the masking stencil and then went looking for something to frame the image.  I found a hot foil frame that fit perfectly so with crossed fingers for no over-foiling, I foiled it onto the image.  I then added the sentiment using the same gold foil.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Striped Flowers

Hi and welcome to a new challenge over at  Fusion .  Today I went with the photo but added a couple of elements from the sketch.  I'm pretty sure you can see how the photo inspired me!

I used all of the dies in the Horizontal Stripes die set and cut each colour of cardstock with a different width die.  I then hot-foiled the sentiment onto the black strip and adhered them all to a white card base.

The floral arrangement was made from pieces left over from my FMS card this week so this card was fairly quick to pull together.  I arranged them onto a die-cut circle which I'd run through the Brick embossing folder and finished with some pearls with a gold hue to them.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the design team and have a go yourself.

Polka Dot Bunch

Hi and welcome!  I'm here with a card for this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches, where our hostess is Jen Brum.

I have to confess that I really like how this card turned out.  It was completely different to what I envisaged but I'm happy with the end result.  The floral arrangement was stamped, coloured and die-cut and set to one side.  Onto a white card base, I adhered a strip of yellow polka-dot patterned paper and then worked on the rest of the elements.

I die-cut the frame using two rectangle dies taped together.  I cut three frames and adhered them together to give added dimension.  Because I wanted the two white panels to be popped up on foam tape, I had to adhere the frame, the flowers and the sentiment to the white panels before adding foam tape and adhering it all to the card base.  This involved temporarily taping the white panels to the card base to ensure the sizing was correct and then adhering the triple-layered frame and the flowers.  Finally I added the sentiment to the frame, removed the temporary tape and carefully turned over all the elements before putting foam tape behind all the exposed parts and adding it to the card base.

Thanks so much for visiting.  Please head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

Boxy Beer

Hi!  I found some time this week to make a card for a few challenges.  For the Tic Tac Toe challenge, I went with Masculine/Square/Beer or Drink.  For The Card Concept, I was inspired by the masculine challenge theme, Krafty Chicks have a CAS challenge and Sweet Stampin' are looking for masculine/Father's Day cards.  It's not Father's Day here until September so I went with masculine.

This beer mug was already stamped and waiting in the stamp pocket to be used (present-day Karren gives a nod of thanks to past Karren 😏) All I had to do was fussy-cut it and then work on the rest of my card.  The squares were die-cut with an embossed edge die in three different shades of blue from a Memory Box paper pack (love these packs!). I arranged them onto a white card base so they overlapped each other and then stamped a simple Happy Birthday sentiment.

The beer jug is popped up on foam tape and I added some clear sparkle pen to the froth.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Protea Bunch

Hi all and welcome to this week's challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches where our sketch hostess this week is Jen Mitchell.  I sort of covered the sketch with the floral image, but it is there underneath!

This gorgeous protea image is from a new stamp set from Paper Rose Studio.  I absolutely love protea flowers and the first house I bought had several growing in the garden, because it was very sandy soil.  Unfortunately, this house is on different soil and I doubt protea plants would grow here.

Anyway, I stamped and coloured the image with Copics and then used my Scan n Cut to cut it out.  I wanted to stick with the blue-green shades for the leaves so I used the coloured image to choose some matching papers from Memory Box, which I die-cut with the Embossed Edge Rectangle dies to add some interest.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.

Sweet Friend

Hi!  I'm here with a card I made today for a few challenges - one of which closes in a few hours - so I won't dally!

I played along with Just Add Ink's Just Add Two (Coffee and Friends), as well as Tic Tac Toe where I went with Drink/Bright Colours/Circle and finally Cupcake Inspirations have a colour challenge with Purple, Lavender and Pink.

I stamped and coloured the girl with her coffee and her faithful friend and coloured them with Copics before using my Scan n Cut to cut them out.  Onto a white card base, I ink-blended Distress Oxide inks through a circle stencil, going for a gradient look.

I added the girl and dog with foam tape, colouring a bit of "shading" at their feet to ground them and then stamped the sentiment and added some enamel dots and a heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Stamps:  Friends at First Sip (MFT)
Ink:  Amalgam (Gina K), Versafine Onyx Black, Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Wilted Violet Distress Oxide
Cardstock:  White, X-Press It

Golden Wheels

Welcome to the newest Fusion challenge.  I was mostly inspired by the sketch but also drew inspiration and colours from the photo to come up with this card.

I started by stamping the card base with a wood plank stamp and Fog ink.  I then did quite a bit of hot-foiling with gold foil, creating the rectangle panel, two circles and the sentiment.

The flowers are a new-to-me stamp and stencil combo which I stenciled with green and gray inks before die-cutting.

Finally, I arranged all the elements and decided not to add any embellishments.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

Blessed

Hi and welcome.  Today's Freshly Made Sketch hostess is Jennifer Timko and she has a great sketch for us.

Here's the card I made:

I recently got an order from Paper Rose and when I saw Jennifer's sketch, I knew some of the things I bought would work for my card.  The patterned paper is from a Paper Rose paper pack and I die-cut it with a stitched rectangle die before I ran it through the Crackle 3D embossing folder.

The eucalyptus stems were die-cut from two sheets of Memory Box cardstock.  Then came the dilemma.  I couldn't get anything to work for the circle in the sketch.  Finally, I settled on some polaroid dies, cut in black and white.  On the white one I stamped a hashtag sentiment because that seems to go with a polaroid frame.  This is not a word I'd use in everyday life, but it fit the space!

Finally I created a strip with more patterned paper and cardstock and called it done.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Products used:

Stamps:  Hashtags (Tim Holtz)
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Cardstock:  White, Black, Fresh Aqua (Memory Box), One of a Kind (Paper Rose)

Accessories:  Crackle EF (Tim Holtz)

Bee-utiful

Hi!  I'm here with my card for the latest Freshly Made Sketch Challenge, where our hostess this week is Jacquie Southas.  Here's what I did with her sketch:

I ink-blended distress inks onto a white card base then die-cut the vertical panels out of a sheet of white cardstock.  Once that was done, I dry-embossed the panel and adhered it onto the card base with foam tape.

The sentiment is white-embossed on black and the bumble-bee was already stamped and coloured from a previous stamping session.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards by the rest of the design team.
