Waxed Leaves

HI all and welcome to a new Fusion challenge.  I was a bit stumped with what to do for this challenge but then I saw the most amazing technique by Dawn Woleslagle from WPlus9 and I was immediately inspired to create this card.

When I saw Dawn's video, I immediately set out to buy the stencil set she used.  I had it in my cart and was about to push the button when I thought to check my stash and guess what?  I already had it and had never used it!  Doh!  Anyway, I set about creating the background following her video and using colours from the inspiration photo.  In keeping with the autumn theme, I die-cut and stacked some leaves and then randomly added foundry wax to them before heat-setting.

To keep the sentiment matching with the foundry wax, I gold embossed it onto black and then finished with some gold pearls.

Thanks for visiting.  Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Plaid Poinsettia

Hi all!  Today was a public holiday as a memorial day for Queen Elizabeth II and I spent some of the day in my craft room making a card for a few challenges.  I chose the sketch from The Paper Players, the Christmas metallic challenge from Happy Little Stampers, the Christmas in September challenge at Sweet Stampin' and the current Tic Tac Toe challenge where I pretty much played with every square except Splatters!  But I'll go with Foliage/Plaid/Berries

I stamped and stenciled the wreath before die-cutting it but then wasn't happy with the colours I'd used. This wreath was already done and in the stamp packet, so I decided to use that as it had more traditional Christmas colours.  The hot-foiled plaid background was also already done so you'd think this card would have been quick to put together, wouldn't you? Ha!  Not for me as I second- and third-guess every step.

The sentiment was silver-embossed on black cardstock and die-cut with the co-ordinating die before I put all the elements together on a Cranberry Cocktail card base, which matched the berries.  I added some yellow Nuvo drops to the centres of the poinsettias and Copic-coloured some pearls to try and match the cranberry colour.

Thanks for visiting.

The Window

Hi!  It's my turn to create the sketch this week over at Freshly Made Sketches and I made it easy on myself because I already had this card made but unposted, so that was my starting point for the sketch!

I actually made this card for a few challenges about a month ago, but I was too late and the challenges had closed, so rather than just post it anyway, I thought I'd be smart and save it for when it was my turn to be sketch hostess 😄. Most of the elements in this card are from The Greetery.  I used the window to create a shaker element and kept to tones of gray and peach (which were the challenge colours for the challenge I missed!).  I stamped the window onto a white panel then die-cut the outside and inside with the co-ordinating dies before creating the shaker element.  Once that was done, I put the window back in and added some foliage and brickwork as well as a simple sentiment.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out what the design team has done with my sketch and also have a go yourself.

Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Gentleman's Gray, Rock Collection (Altenew) Bellini (Catherine Pooler)

Front Porch Hello

Hi and welcome to another challenge from the team at  Fusion where this challenge we have an inviting front porch scene.  I chose to create a fusion of sketch and photo for my card.

I stamped and coloured the chair and plant pot with Copics and cut them out with my Scan n Cut.  Onto the card base I lightly stenciled over the brick wall stencil with Limestone ink and then stamped the "floor" with Sand Dunes ink.  I found a piece of patterned paper that had a small texture pattern and adhered that down the right side of the card base.  I then adhered the chair with liquid glue and popped up the pot with foam tape.

The sentiment was die-cut twice from Boysenberry cardstock and once from black and stacked, with the black layer slightly offset to create a shadow effect.

Thanks for visiting.  Please head over and check out the wonderful cards made by the design team.

Sunflower Windows

Hi!  Today's sketch for Freshly Made Sketches was designed by Cecile Ribon and here's my card:

This is the second time I've used this gorgeous washi in a card in the last week.  It really is gorgeous!

I started by adhering some texture patterned paper to a white card base and then, on another panel of white, I die-cut the Trio Shaker Window die to give me three "windows".  I popped the panel up with foam tape over the patterned paper.

I then die-cut the Photo Booth Strip from white and spritzed it with Tarnished Brass Mica Spray and once it was dry, I adhered that over the openings.  The sunflower washi tape was die-cut and added to the card front with liquid glue and I finished with a black hot-foiled sentiment.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Dies:  Photo Booth Strip, Square Trio Shaker Window (MFT), Sunflowers (Pink Fresh Studio), Hey There Combo (Waffle Flower)

Special Day Sunflowers

Hi!  I'm back with another card.  It's rare that I get a chance to make cards just for the fun of it, but this morning I took a bit of time to make this card using the inspiration at Just Add Ink and the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge where I chose Orange/Rust-Free-Layers.  I'm also linking up The Four Seasons Fall Challenge.

I had just received this washi tape and die so wanted to try it out.

This is the Fall version of the tape - there is also a summer version which is just as pretty but more yellow.  I started my card with a white card base and layered on a gold matte foil panel over that.  The Dark Indigo panel was embossed with the Engraved EF and before adhering it, I went around the edges with Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink to add a bit of interest.  From there I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches with the two angled panels to provide some layers.  Both panels are matted onto the same gold matte foil but the top layer has also been embossed.

I arranged the die-cut washi tape around the angled panels and adhered it to the card base.  The finishing touch was a hot-foiled sentiment which is adhered with foam tape.

Here's another photo so you can see the shine.

This is way more layered than I usually make, but I quite like it!  Thanks so much for visiting!

Products used:

Ink:  Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink
Cardstock:  White, Dark Indigo (PTI), Gold Matte Foil
Dies:  Sunflowers (Pink Fresh Studio), Embossed Edge Rectangles (Kat Scrappiness), Yana's Special Sentiments (Spellbinders)
Accessories:  Gold Hot Foil, Sunflowers:  Fall Version Washi Tape (Pink Fresh Studio), Engraved EF (Sizzix)

Green Leaves

Hi and welcome!  Today's card was made for the Seize The Birthday/Color Hues collaboration challenges where the idea is to make a birthday card using navy and lime green.  I'm also linking up to the Repetition challenge at Inskpirational where I've repeated the die-cut elements and the scored lines.

I decided to go with a more masculine card featuring my favourite navy blue colour, Dark Indigo from Papertrey Ink.  I paired that with some alcohol-inked leaves and white polaroid frames to come up with this card.

The Dark Indigo panel was first partially embossed with the Subtle embossing folder then I added some score lines at the bottom before blending Chipped Sapphire ink around the edges to add more interest.  The sentiment was white-embossed.

The alcohol-inked panel was from my stash so I can't remember what ink colours I used.  The leaves were stacked using white die-cuts underneath the alcohol-inked panel.  I then die-cut some polaroid frames and arranged the elements onto the Dark Indigo panel.

Finally, I adhered it to a white card base using foam tape.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Ink:  Versamark, Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, Alcohol Inks

Tool Time

Hi!  Today's card uses Jen Brum's sketch from the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  Last weekend was Father's Day here in New Zealand and a few days beforehand I realised I didn't have any cards made.  So I sat down on Saturday and made a card for my dad and one for my husband.

Both cards are exactly the same apart from the tools.  My husband is a mechanic so I went with more car-related tools and my dad is more of a handyman, hence the saw and hammer.  I die-cut the pieces from various cardstock, adding a touch of Copic shading where I could and assembled each of the tools.

The background is made using some really old cork paper I had here from the early 2000's.  I adhered the die-cut panel to a white card base and then added two tag dies and the tools.  I finished with a simple sentiment.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll head over and check out the fabulous cards made by the design team.

I am linking this up to the Masculine theme challenge at Just Add Ink.

Pinwheel

The new challenge at Fusion is a fun one and I combined both the sketch and the photo for my card.

The Pinwheel Party stencils and dies from The Greetery were perfect for this challenge.  After stenciling the main panel and then a couple of stand-along pinwheels, I created a frame by stacking three frame die-cuts together.  I also added gray circles to the centre of each pinwheel to give them a finished look.

The sentiment was die-cut from black and gray cardstock and adhered onto the card.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Autumn Gratitude

Hi, our Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week was designed by Kim Singdahlsen and I went with an autumn theme - even though we are coming into spring here in NZ.  It's just easier to follow the northern hemisphere seasons when it comes to card-making, so autumn it is!

When I made this card last week, I was in the mood to colour, so colour I did.  I went with some colour combos that I don't usually use and I quite like them.  Once finished colouring, I cut the images with my Scan n Cut and set them to one side.  I went looking for some similar shades in my Memory Box cardstock pads and adhered three strips to an embossed and die-cut panel.

I attached that panel to a white card base then adhered the images with foam tape.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the design team.
