Gold Feather

Today's Freshly Made Sketch is brought to us by Cecile Ribon and I've departed from my usual white card base to come up with this card:

I thought about using arrows like the sketch, but couldn't get the idea of a feather out of my mind, so 5 million feather designs later, I settled on this one.  The feather image is gold-embossed onto Dark Indigo cardstock and die-cut.  The sentiment (which I now notice is in the wrong place on the sketch!) is black hot-foiled and matted onto some cardstock I embossed with the same gold EP.

The card base is Sage Leaf which I ran through my Platinum 6 with the PTI Linen and Canvas plate.

Thanks so much for visiting.  I hope you'll check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the DT.

Geo Birthday

Hi!  Today's card is for the latest challenge at Fusion where I was inspired to play with the new colour palette feature to create this birthday card.

I had just received this hot foil plate and matching stencils, so I had to give them a whirl.  I chose colours from the palette and, after hot foiling the geo plate, I added the colour through the stencils.  I then matted onto Adriatic cardstock and also die-cut and stacked the sentiment using the same cardstock.

Finally I finished with a gold hot-foiled sub-sentiment onto black cardstock and added some black enamel dots.

Thanks so much for visiting!  I hope you'll play along with us!

I'm linking this up to Addicted to Stamps and More's Birthday challenge and the Stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

Puppies

Welcome to a new sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches.  Our sketch hostess this week is Jen Brum and I have to admit, I went a bit rogue with my card:

As I was looking through my dies for something to use for the three circles in the sketch, I found this peek a boo window die and just had to go with it!  I stamped and quickly coloured the wee dogs using a stippling technique with my Copics.  I then fussy-cut them and put them to one side while I built their background.

The patterned paper comes from a Rosie's Studio pack and I matted the sage panel with black to make it pop.  Behind the circles I added a silver and gold speckled pattern.  Finally the sentiment was white-embossed onto black card.

Thanks for dropping by!  I hope you'll head over and check out the wonderful cards made by the DT.

Teal Shadow

Hi and welcome to a new challenge from the team at Freshly Made Sketches where our hostess this week is Kim Singdahlsen

This would be one of my quicker cards as it is pretty much all washi tape. The horizontal strip is 4 separate tapes adhered to a white strip and the flower is from the Teal Shadow washi tape and dies.

I did some gold foiling and stamped a simple sentiment and finished with a diagonal flow of enamel dots.

Thanks for visiting. Please check out the fabulous cards made by the rest of the design team.

Rosy Friend

Hi!  It's a long weekend here in New Zealand and I took the extra day to get in a card for a few current challenges.  I'm playing along with the colours at Color Throwdown, the Friends theme at Just Us Girls, the sketch at Sunday Stamps and the challenge at Tic Tac Toe (flowers, purple or pink, CAS).  I'm not sure if this card qualifies as pink as the colours look really red in the photos and the pink has sort of been a bit lost, so fingers crossed!

I saw the recent video by Jennifer McGuire on creating a jig for layered stamps and I wanted to give it a go, so chose a stamp set with reasonably small images.  I stamped the roses in pinks and reds and because I couldn't use greens for my leaves, I went with kraft coloured leaves and I think it adds a nice, neutral addition.  The palest pink didn't show in my roses after stamping the other layers so I brought in some extra pink in one of the layers.  I also backed the "friend" die-cut with pink under the kraft which provides some interest when looking from the side.

The sketch has a horizontal sentiment strip with a layer underneath.  To try and mimic that, I added a black off-set shadow to my word die.

Finally I finished the card with some enamel dots and some clear sparkle pen on the word die-cut.

Thanks so much for visiting.

Cupcake Cutie

Hi!  I'm here with a card for the latest challenge at Fusion.  I focussed mainly on the photo this time but went with a birthday theme rather than Valentine.

I love Tiddly Inks images and had to buy this Cupcake Cutie set at MFT.  I coloured her in, matching the sketch colours and added some white gel pen dots to her dress.  I then fussy-cut her out and set out working on the rest of the card.

I wanted to do an ink-blended background so masked off a rectangle on the white card base and blended some pinks from Altenew.  I then went over slightly darker with a dot stencil.  Once I was finished I wanted even more so found this hot foil plate and carefully lined it up to match the ink-blending.  It wasn't a 100% fit so I had to do a bit of judicious white gel penning to cover up some ink-blending in the top left corner, but it was good enough for me!

I finished with a hot-foiled sentiment die-cut with a co-ordinating die.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you'll head over and check out the wonderful cards made by the DT.

I'm playing along with the Anything Goes theme at Seize the Birthday.

Forever and Always

Hi and welcome to our new sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches team where our sketch this week was designed by Linda Callahan.

I have to admit I don't love this card but it'll do as a Valentine's card for Pete 😄

I let the patterned paper do the work here and added the stripes with gold embossing powder.  The card base is Grout Gray and the sentiment was embossed with gold onto black.

For embellishments, I gold embossed some gold heart die-cuts and stacked them onto black die-cuts.

Thanks for visiting!  I hope you'll check out the wonderful cards made by the rest of the DT.
