Butterfly Love

Welcome to another sketch from the team at Freshly Made Sketches, where this week our hostess is Judy Rozema.  Here is Judy's sketch:

I seem to be fixated on negative space lately and this week is no exception.

I masked off some squares on a white card base and sponged Distress Oxide Inks in an ombre fashion.  I then die-cut squares from a white panel and after stamping a sentiment, I adhered it to the card base with foam tape.

The butterflies were stamped with Altenew inks and cut with my Scan n Cut.  I then added them to the card with a mix of foam tape and liquid glue.

I made this card with my son in mind.  There is a story that when you see a butterfly, if you say "I love you", it will take your message to your loved one in heaven.  I don't know if there could be any truth to this because I'm not sure I even believe in heaven, but it's a nice story and does provide some comfort.  I'm hoping to see some butterflies as we come into warmer weather here in NZ.

Thanks for visiting.  Please stop by and check out what the rest of the design team have made.

I believe, and imagine all the love we've sent to Heaven, Karren - 256 butterflies were bloomed from our front porch this season! and they are still going strong in our garden!
Your little beauties are just as wonderful!

This is such a beautiful card Karren! I just love those butterflies and love the gorgeous colours peeking out behind them! I love seeing butterflies though right now I'm a little concerned they're going to freeze! I'm pretty sure they need to start flying somewhere warmer!

I believe in heaven, and if it exists, I'm sure your son is there and that he has received your sweet message of love! You are often in my thoughts and prayers, my friend...Sending lots of hugs to you ~

Your ink-blended background is perfect for these beautiful butterflies, Karren! I love your color palette and that you chose stitched squares for the apertures...Really stunning take on the sketch!

Karren, your card is gorgeous and your post is beautiful. I'm so very sorry about Matthew. I can't even imagine all you've been through and continue to go through. I don't know if I believe in heaven either but I always hope that loved ones that have passed somehow still know how much those left behind love them. Big hugs to you.

I love how these pretty butterflies seem to be flying out of the pretty negative spaces you've blended. A gorgeous card with a sweet thought behind it. Hugs to you, sweet friend!
