Celebrate Pink!

Hi and welcome!  Today's card is a celebration of pink - appropriate given the month we're in:)

I used the colors from ColourQ, plus the cue words from CASology (splatter), Addicted to CAS (stencil) and JUGS (celebrate) to come up with this card:

I positioned the Tim Holtz Splatters stencil onto a white card base and then masked off some of the smaller splatters to try and keep the card cleaner.  I then sponged Spun Sugar over all the splatters, before bringing in some Worn Lipstick then Picked Raspberry just from the edges to create a softer effect in the center.

The sentiment comes from an older Stampin' Up set called Celebrate Everything. I just love the font of the word "celebrate" and I embossed that with pewter embossing powder, then stamped the word "today" underneath and to the right.

The observant among you will note that I talked about a white card base up above.  Yep, this was intended to be a one-layer card, but I sponged the splatter too high up and it just looked a bit off-kilter, so I cut the card base up and layered it onto a black card base.  Much easier on the eye :)

Lastly, a huge congrats to Arielle and the team at ColourQ for keeping this awesome challenge going for five years!  What an accomplishment!

Thanks for visiting.

Three Clouds

This is my second post today.  And this card uses the theme of "three" at KIS and the sketch from Friday Mashup.

This is a very CAS card  I stamped and colored the plane then fussy-cut it out.  I also fussy-cut the banner.  I stamped the clouds directly onto the card base and lightly colored them with a very pale blue Copic marker.

The plane and banner were mounted using dimensional tape.  And that's it!

Autumn Silhouette

Today's card uses the Autumn theme from both Less is More and Sweet Stampin' as well as Retro Sketches' pick a sketch week.  I went with RS#14 which is one of my favorite layouts.

I created my card by masking off a vertical panel then sponging various distress inks.  Once I was happy with the sponging, I flicked water over the panel before removing the mask and stamping the flower image and sentiment from a STAMPtember set by Simon Says Stamp designed by Darkroom Door.

Here's a close up:

This is the sketch I used.

Bright Lights

Hi and welcome to Merry Monday.  Today's challenge comes to us from Kristie Goulet who has challenged us to make a neon Christmas card!

This is as neon as it gets in my stash :)

To make this card, I white-embossed an old Penny Black image onto black cardstock.  I then took a Versarmarker pen and colored the individual lights using squiggles before embossing with turquoise, orange and hot pink embossing powders.  I put a touch of gold embossing on the end caps.  The sentiment is silver embossed and a few colorful enamel dots finish the panel.

The black card was then layered onto a Melon Mambo card base, making for a bright (almost neon?) Christmas card.

I hope you have time to join in the challenge this week.  Be sure to check out the rest of the design team's inspiration.

Thanks for visiting.

Panda Love

Hi, here's another card I made on World Cardmaking Day.  I used the sketch from Fusion and the monochromatic theme at Colour Me to come up with this card:

I used a new-to-me set called Pandamonium, which has the most adorable little pandas.  I used the bow-tie from the Honey Bunny set to class up my panda a bit, because of course he's out to impress his lady friend :)  I lightly colored him with a cool gray copic marker to give him some shading.  I then covered him in Wink of Stella.

The envelope was stamped and colored on a white panel then I stamped the sentiment and cut around both.

The background is colored embossing paste and the Tim Holtz Rays stencil.  It represents the square element on the sketch.

Thanks for visiting.  I hope you had a wonderful and creative World Cardmaking Day!  Because I'm using Mama Elephant stamps, I'm also entering this card into their October Anything Goes challenge.  NB:  I also just realised that I originally chose a love theme for the Curtain Call challenge, so I'm linking up there as well.

New Baby

Today I made a card I don't often make - a baby card!  I'm entering it into both Just Add Ink to Just Add Baby and Addicted to CAS who have a key word of "Cuddly".

I've been taking the Copic Markers for Cardmakers course and this card features a lot of coloring.

This card is a United Nations of stamp manufacturers LOL.  The teddy is from SU, the balloons are from Mama Elephant and the sentiment is from PTI.

I colored the teddy with copics then added texture with colorless blending solution before cutting him out.  The balloons were stamped onto the white panel and colored in rainbow colors. The panel was cut out with some of the balloons outside the rectangle.  Everything was mounted with dimensional tape and the top left corner was rounded because there just seemed to be too much white!

Because I'm also linking this up to the Online Card Class gallery, I'll list the copics I used:

Teddy:  E25, E27, E29, E57, E59, YG21, YG23, YG25
Balloons:  R27, R29, YR65, YR68, YG23, YG25, V15, V17, BG05, BG07, Y15, Y18

Fall Leaves

Hi and welcome back to my blog.  Today I have a card I made using the colors from Color Throwdown and the sketch from Fab Friday.

I hope the leaves are orange enough to meet the criteria at Color Throwdown.  They started out orange but I toned them down using some brown inks.

The card base was stamped with the text stamp from the Papillon set using Crumb Cake ink, then I sponged Smoky Slate ink over a notebook stencil before sponging the edges of the card with Crumb Cake ink.

The leaves were watercolored using various orange-y distress inks before sponging with brown inks.  I popped them up on the card base using dimensional tape then glued on a bow with long tails (for the banner elements in the sketch).

So, in summary, a little bit of a departure from both challenges :)

I used the same stencil on the inside.

Thanks for visiting.

Products used:

Stamps:  Papillon (Stampers Anonymous), Fantastic Foliage (SU)
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, various distress inks
Cardstock:  Crumb Cake, watercolor
